Step 1: Select Your Shift
Volunteers will be placed along the course at important turn locations to make sure the participants stay on course. Volunteers will be placed in groups of 2. Requirements: loud, enthusiastic vocal chords and positive body language. Costumes highly encouraged.
Assist with finish line flow to ensure the operation is smooth (yes, that requires you to be a smooth operator). Dress up in your best gorilla suit and point runners in the right direction. Gorilla suit not necessarily required.
The medal distributors (MDs) may be every runner's favorite group to see on race day. The MD will hand off a finisher's medal to each race participant as he/she crosses the finish line. Be prepared to get Buster-Hugged and high-fived all morning.
Assist with registration of new runners and distribution of race materials to existing runners. Requirements: a great attitude and infectious smile!
Your mission should you choose to accept it: be visible, be loud, and be somewhat nuts. We will place you somewhere on the course or at the finish line, essentially to cheer people on and burn some calories being wacky. Jobs may include "Water Gun Attendant", "Bull Horn Guy", and many more.
Assist with helping participants find the start, corralling them into the correct area, and clean up of area to allow streets to open quickly after the area clears. No cat-herding experience necessary (although it helps).
Distribute water, light food, fluid replacement, smiles, and unlimited high-fives at the finish line. Bring your friends, and dress like it's prom (no matter what decade you went).
